tell me about that. richard: well sid, the healingministry actually began in my life as a little boy, as yousaid, growing up in my dad's ministry, and the effectivelythrough me in 1980 after lindsay and i were married. but something happened lastseptember. our mutual friend, hankkunneman, a pastor in omaha. sid: the guy that prophesiedeverything you see before it was here.

richard: yes i know. he told me that there was aneven greater level of healing, especially concerning cancer andincurable diseases, and that the numbers of healing woulddramatically, and by the way, someone is being healed rightnow of a migraine headache, he said it would dramaticallyincrease. within 30 days it happened inoctober and it's been happening wherever i go since then. there's a sciatica nerve beinghealed right now in the name of

jesus. you're watching. sid: i have to ask you thisthough. like right this second when yousaid this person being healed of the migraine, etc., what is it? is it inner thought? is it, what's going on inside ofyou? richard: sid, i actually feelthe pain and then i see a person healed of that ailment oraffliction, and then when i say

it, it's released. suddenly as you were talking, igot this sharp pain right here and all of a sudden i sawsomeone with a migraine headache being healed, and then i saidit, and then that pain left. and i felt pain go down my righthip and down my leg, and i saw someone being healed of sciaticaproblems. and as soon as i said it, thatwas released. that pain was released from me. that's how it operates throughme.

i don't know how it operatesthrough others. sid: okay. tell me what happens? you're walking through ashopping mall with a microphone in front of 10,000, a hundredthousand people. richard: right. sid: tv cameras and flashbulbs,well there aren't flashbulbs any more. i don't know.

but it's just you and you'rewalking down a shopping mall. what happens to you? richard: if i see someone that'sill compassion comes up. you know they said of jesus inmatthew 14:14, he went forth, he saw a great multitude, he wasmoved with compassion. compassion is an irresistibleurge to remove the problem, to reach in, take hold of theproblem and pull it out. and that comes on me whenever isee someone ill in a shopping mall, in a theater, in arestaurant, in an airport.

it just, i have to get overclose to them. if i can't touch them i want tobreathe a prayer over them as i walk by. that's the compassion of thelord. sid: the most exciting thingthat i read about your dad, you witnessed. your dad went into, the used tohave tents of the people who were paralyzed. richard: yes.

sid: or in stretchers and thingslike this. sid: and he went into that tentand there was someone dying of cancer, and the smell was sohorrific because the guy was dying. sid: tell me what you observed. richard: well i was there. my father stretched out hishands to pray for him and instead of praying for him, hejust threw up because the smell of the cancer was so bad.

and my dad turned and walked outof the, what he called the invalid tent. he walked out, just left methere standing. i was just a little boy, but iremember it like it was yesterday. but a moment or two later hecame back in and he got up on the hospital gurney that the manwas laying on, and laid his hands on him, and then took himin his arms, and prayed for him. and then we went on back intothe main service.

and i never understood untilyears later after my mother went home to be with the lord, myfather and i were talking one afternoon in his home, and wewere reminiscing. and i brought up that subject tohim, and i said, "dad, i never understood why you left and whyyou came back." and he laughed, and he said, "when i gotoutside, i said to the lord, this is too difficult." he said,"i was being opposed so heavily by the media at the time. here i'm trying to get peoplesaved and healed, and people

hated me." and he said, "it'stoo difficult. i can't do this any more" and hesaid, "i got outside and the lord spoke to me and said, 'ifyou're not willing to pray for him then you're not worthy to bemy child.'" and he said, "that's when i came back in the room andi took the man in my arms and prayed for him." and my dad waslike that until the day he went home to be with the lord. if he saw someone ill he had toget near them. and if he couldn't touch them hehad to at least reach out his

richard: in a way i did. sid: but your mom was theobstacle. tell me about your mom. richard: well she said, "son,you'll never get away from my prayers." sid: i love it. it's true. richard: no matter my idea, nomatter what i went through, all that i said and did, and all theaspirations that i had to be a nightclub entertainer, andalthough i was singing in clubs

and i was offered a job at thesahara hotel in the lounges singing and doing summer stocktheater, and all the things, i did singing in clubs, i couldn'tget away from her prayers. sid: tell me about your toe. that's what i want to hear. richard: my toe? sid: i want to know about yourtoe. richard: well a prophetic wordhad been given over lindsay and me about the healing ministry.

and she and i took that word andbegan to confess it along with the word of god what things, soever you desire, mark, chapter 11, what things so ever youdesire, "when you pray believe that you receive and you shallhave it." she and i began to confess a healing ministry. i knew the day was coming, but ididn't know then. and we didn't announce it. we just talked about it amongstourselves. and she and i prayed, and weheld on to that word we had from

god. and she and i were, i don't knowwhere we were, but we were in a service. and i was closing, and in thelast moment i heard myself say this: "lord, heal that man's bigtoe." and there was a snap in my own toe, like a bone moving. and i said to myself, well iwonder why i said that. i closed the service. sid: that's called a mindbypass.

richard: a few weeks later i gota letter from a man who said, "how did you know about my toe?"he said, "my toe was broken and i had been to the doctor, had itx-rayed." and he said, "i was in your service that night and whenyou said, lord, heal that's man big toe, my toe snapped." and hesaid, "i went back to the doctor and had it reexamined and itshowed there's no break." he said, "what did you do?" and iwrote back and i said, "well i didn't do anything except saywhat i felt the lord had me say." lindsay pointed her fingerat me and said, "this is the

beginning of your healingministry." i said, "a toe?" sid: well you got to start somewhere,richard. richard: never despise a smallbeginning. and so lindsay said our faithtogether. she and i believed god. and it was in april of 1980 whenwere in albuquerque, new mexico and people began to get healedin numbers: blindness, deafness all in the same service, peoplecoming out of wheelchairs. and i remember, sid, i rememberit so well, she was sitting out

in the crowd. she hated sitting on theplatform. she wanted to be out in thecrowd so she could watch and pray like she's doing right now. she's praying right now for meon this program. but she sat there and i saw her. she just nodded her head and shesaid, "this is it. this is the fulfillment of whathappened with that toe." sid: you know, as a young boy youlearned so many wonderful things

from your dad. you were actually able to go andobserve him and watch what he did. but there was one time that ithad a major impact on you and the way you explain it, godwants us healed. but we have a part in theequation, and you learned this when you had, what was it, 22warts on your hand? how old were you? richard: i was about ten.

i had 22 warts. one of the greatest lessons ofmy life, and you know, as a boy i played baseball andbasketball, football. i played everything you couldplay. and the warts were spreading, 22of them, and they were bleeding because, you know, i used myhand a lot, and it hurt when i threw a baseball and so on. and my dad came home and said,"i'm going to pray. i'm going to believe god." welli expected a miracle because

that's what i always expectedwhen my dad prayed for me. and we sat down in the bedroom,and he said, i want you to release your faith. and i said, "well daddy, how doyou release your faith?" he said, "through a point ofcontact." and he saw the look in my eye that i didn't know whathe was talking about. he said, "point of contact issomething that you do and when you do it, you let your faithgo." he still saw that i didn't understand.

so he pointed to the wall andsaid, "do you see the light switch?" "yes." "the lightswitch, son, is a point of contact. it has no power in itself, butit's hooked up to the electronic company, like when you flip theswitch the lights come on." he said, "your faith is like that. god has given," he gave me thescripture from romans, "god has given to every person themeasure of faith." he said, "now your faith in your heart was notmeant there, meant just to stay

there. you've got to release it justlike you flip that switch. so when i pray for you, let yourfaith go." and so he prayed and i was believing, and i came to apoint in his prayer where i just, not knowing what to do, ijust said, "faith get up. get up to god." i was just alittle boy. sid: you have to become like alittle child in order, that's what you were doing what thebible instructs us to do. richard: exactly.

sid: but you already were alittle child. i looked at my hand. every wart was still there. and he said, "now son, we haveprayed and we have believed. now let's expect a miracle."sid: do you know, that's where most people miss it? when the warts are still therethey say, well i guess nothing happened. richard: well and it didn'thappen the next day or the next

day, or the next day, or thenext day, or the fourth, the fifth, the sixth, the seventh,the eighth, the ninth. but the tenth morning i awakenedand looked at my hand. every wart had totallydisappeared. what lesson i learned, after heprayed, i learned how to hold on to my faith and to believe. and you're right. that's where many people aretoday. because they don't see aninstantaneous miracle, they

don't understand that thehealing power of god is working. and sometimes it takes a whilefor the healing to be complete, but it happened, and i've neverhad another wart on that hand, you know, as long as i've lived. sid: tell me, i believe it wasnicaragua in a tent that there was a person, a woman who hadten years of back pain. no, it wasn't a tent. it was a taxi. i was in a taxi on the way to acrusade.

the driver of the taxi wastalking about his mother who was ill. she had back problems for tenyears and he asked me to pray for her. and i said, "can you get her tothe service?" he said, "no, she's six hours away from here."i said, "can you get her on the phone?" because i knew there wasno distance in prayer. and so through a translator, hegot her on the phone and we prayed together.

and i really discovered thescripture in psalm 107, verse 20, "he said his word and healedthem, and delivered them from their destruction." so i said toher, "i just send the word to you for healing in your back,"through the translator. the translator translated it. and then the next day i learnedthat she began to be healed that moment and after a few days,after ten years of back pain, it was completely gone. and i learned that day there isno distance in prayer.

we'll be right back toit's supernatural! sid: i was just telling richardduring the break, i don't, can you feel, can you feel, can youfeel at home, there is a, it's like a river of god's spirit. richard: there is. sid: it's so wonderful. the whole world has toexperience this liver? liver? you know, he just did it to me.

someone's liver has been healedright now. someone's liver is being healedright now. richard: did you hear what yousaid? to feel this liver. sid: oh i heard what i said. richard: that's compassion. sid: yeah, but let me tell yousomething. that was not rehearsed. richard: no.

sid: that just came when i wastalking about the river of god's spirit that it's here right now. there is something, i rememberreading years ago that your father wrote and you teach on italso, and it's got to do with supernatural languages, tongues. sid: he said, the bible says,"pray in your understanding and pray in the spirit." and yourfather taught, get into a flow. you pray with your understandingthen you pray in tongues in the spirit then you pray with your,and he said, sooner or later

when you pray with yourunderstanding you'll actually be interpreting your supernaturallanguage. tell me a bit about that. richard: well that's the apostlepaul who taught that when you pray in tongues you don't knowwhat you're saying. you're praying the mysteries ofgod. your spirit is edified. you feel better, but you don'thave understanding to go along with it.

so paul said, "what will i do? i will pray with the spirit andi will pray with the understanding." when a persongets saved the holy spirit comes in and bears witness with theirspirit that they're a child of so every christian has the holyspirit. they may not pray in tongues,but they have the ability because the holy spirit is inthem. all right. what does the bible say the holyspirit is doing?

he's interceding. he's praying, romans tells us,seven days a week, 24 hours a day, in a straight line prayerto god. paul taught that we have anopportunity and an ability to tap into the holy spirit'skiosk, [speaking in tongues]. we can pray in tongues and tapinto the holy spirit's prayer any time we like. now many people who pray intongues only pray at a moment of great joy or in terriblesadness.

but it's something we can doevery day. we can tap in, i'm not talkingabout the gift of tongues. that's different. i'm talking about your own dailydevotional prayer language. we can tap into that prayer, andthen as you said, when we stop and pray in our own language, weget god's response back to us because the holy spirit istaking what's inside of us that we don't have the ability toexpress in human terms. he takes what's way down on theinside of us and takes it up to

but the scripture says he knowsour hurts, he knows our needs, he knows our afflictions, heknows what's in us. he's taking that to the father. and then when we pray in englishwe're getting god's response back to us, and many times it'sa direct interpretation or it's a direction, or it's a new way,a new idea, a new concept, a new way of doing something, a newinnovation, something brand new on the scene. and that's something that i doevery day of my life, not

because i'm better than anybodyelse, because i need help. i need to know what to do. sid: so if someone has beenpraying in tongues but they don't really understand, teachme. teach me. that's me. i'm talking about me right now. richard: i'm talking aboutpeople, and what you're talking about, i believe, is people whojust pray in tongues, but they

don't complete the prayer. sid: yes. richard: they're doing just ahalf a prayer. tell me how you do it. richard: when you pray intongues, stop and begin to pray in your own language the veryfirst thing that god brings to your mind, the very first thing. say it out loud and as youpractice it, as you do it over and over again, you'll get intothe flow that you were talking

about a little earlier. and as you pray in tongues andthen stop and pray in your own language, you'll find thatyou'll begin to say what you've been wanting to say to god andyou've not known how or you get his interpretation of what hewants you to have or to do. when i don't know what to do, ipray in tongues and then i stop and i pray in my own language. sid: and i'm not saying throwyour mind out, but if you could make your decisions from god, doyou realize how much better it
