have paid no taxes for up to 19 years. >> he calls it genius. >> no one has shown more genius as a way to use the tax codes it's a perfect law to do that. >> it's a perfect law. don't
you think that is a genius. than a woman who's only work she produced was for the fbi to check her e-mails. >> it's a colossal impact to his tax.
>> if they think he's smart and the rest of us are dummies, i think they have a distorted view of what this country is about. >> that same point that hillary
clinton and bill used in the same loophole with a loss to avoid paying taxes. clinton has tax problems on her own and referred to bernie sanders supporters as basement
dwellers. >> bernie sanders says he was upset by clinton's words. >> meanwhile trump dialed in on hillary clinton's health. >> she could be crazy. i don't think

double hit on that country. >> that's right, pat. people are bracing for a catastrophic hit from a category 4 it's barrelling towards the nation at 130 miles per hour. matthew has been a
slow moving storm which threatens a huge risk of flooding to jamaica and cuba. it's still unclear what impact the hurricane will have directly on the

it was 29 years from jerusalem as scripture said he did what was right from the lord. but he had trouble in this kingdom. this was recently n covered in the
excavation in the national park of israel. >> it's something that replaced that everything is going on inside. >> archeologist said ancient was an important city back in

mentioned even in our story it's mentioned. >> pat, these are some fascinating archeological finds. >>pat: like he says, we take the bible and we don't have that validate the
bible, but it's good to have validation. today is the beginning of a jewish new year called rosh hashana. last night we celebrated it here. a tremendous rosh hashana celebration

>> he says to the lord, even come lord jesus. >> pat, i was sitting with some of our partners last night, they didn't want the celebration to end. >>pat: it was overwhelmingly
beautiful and i'm glad to be part of it. the dancing and our dear friend hummel has gone to be with the lord. he beat cancer and then it came back with a vengeance.
anyway, he was there on our special day. meantime, i have something special and it's been around a long time. i have been around a long time. the bible says be fruitful and
multiply. i'm doing it. >> are we doing a report? >> i have got 14 grandchildren. now i have 7 great grandchildren, one pregnant with twins and it will give
me 10 great grandchildren. i am a patriarch. all right, what do you have? >> we knew that. up next, celebrating 55 years broadcasting and the evolution of cbn news. we are going to take you back to
the beginning and show you how cbn earned the trustful name. we'll be right back right after this. america. >>pat: welcome back. we've got a wonderful audience in the
studio. cbn partners come from all over to be here with us. we are thrilled to see them to share in this marvelous occasion. 55 years. today there are hundreds of
tv channels and dozens dedicated to news from all perspectives. in the early cbn news, it wasn't that occasion. when we decided to broadcast news from
the christian perspective. >> not long after it's first broadcast. many looked for christians for inspiration. >> jesus is going to come back. >> by the 1970s in america,
pat robertson sat with jimmy carter. their subject a topic rarely discussed about faith. at that moment cbn news was born. over the next few years
christians around the country began letting their voices be heard. ronald reagan was there and when a would about assassin made his way. >> a series of shots rang
>> viewers prayed with the "700 club". then he served as commander in chief. >> this is a nation under god and as long as we recognize that, i think you will help us.
>> no question about it. >> a news division formally began in 1982 and america and the world was changing. the radical muslims were savering across the middle east.
farther down south cbn opened an office inside jerusalem to cover the latest news in israel. >> no one in this nation land will predict what these next two nations
will see. >> as the news was heating up, the cold war was winding down. pat and billy graham visited a newly unified germany after the berlin wall. >> in russia, the government
opened it's borders. for the first time soviet union was allowed to leave the border. and cbn news noticed it's significance. >> that it could fulfill the bible
prophecy. >> i did not have sexual relations with that woman. >> cbn covered the first american impeachment of a president in 130 and outside of politics, cbn
news parkhill was one of the first people to demonstrate on national tv the internet. >> this will take the place television. >> this new age entered the millennia
of a start of progress. and the hanging chad in florida. and then one september morning, cbn news -- anchor. >> a plane has crashed. >> after the 911 terror attacks,
people across america were looking for answers and cbn with answers restoring faith. and followed them into battle. >> that was the last position to reach any target in the city.
>> to keep up, cbn's newswatch launched a website and soon it's reporter's covered every major event in the world. from natural disasters to the hurricane in katrina to the
middle in the age of covering the news, you can see david brody on capitol hill or efrem graham. its team has covered around the world. >> now when news breaks, cbn
is there. but the true part has never been in the headlines. >> cbn remembered those forgotten. cbn news is on the scene standing on the wall as modern day watch
men and proclaiming the truth from every nation to every screen. >>pat: that's wonderful to hear. it's been a marvelous ride for 55 we had a band, remember moose
smith? >> i remember moose. >> moose was jamming in the it cost enough money to pay for the musicians. i began the conference and people said we want to watch the news,
they were not interested in moose. [ laughter ] >> he didn't mean that. >> we said, let's take that money and emphasize news. we'll go with news and we don't need a band on the
air. >> i want to say because we have so many friends in the audience how many of you said that how much you enjoy getting news from a christian perspective, but a straight
story. i know it means a lot to the viewers of 700. >> we have journalist and they tell it like it is. they just tell the truth of what's there.
anyhow, that's, poor moose. moose is still around. >> he's home licking his wounds right now. >> we decided to go with news instead. now, we've got a whole news division,
a news channel, internet channel and so forthcoming up and more coming. what's next? >>terry: still ahead, a look back at the history of the broadcasting
network. we are going to start at the very beginning. we'll show you just how far we've come in 55 years and ben is going to talk about gizmo's memorable moment as cohost
stay with us. >>terry: welcome back. this is a big day today. we are celebrating 55 years of broadcasting. right now we are going to take you back to 1961, 3:00, october
1st, pat robertson made his first appearance on television. the signal was black and white and the picture was shaky. there was only one camera in the studio and
the equipment broke down twice that afternoon. but since then, the gospel has gone to the outermost parts of the earth. >> cbn broadcasting. >> you are right.
>> hi, everybody. welcome. when you turn on the "700 you are watching a program that has been on the air continuously since 1966. it's one of the longest daily
programs in television history. >> probably saying more people come to the lord through cbn than any other organization in the world. it wasn't me, it was god.
>> it was an unbelievable leap of faith for a man who didn't own a tv set to jump to telecommunications. >> i didn't have any money, but a lot of faith, i suppose. so i got
appointment with david sarnoff and told him we wanted to buy equipment from him and he said you don't sound like an equipment buyer to me. >> he went to get the camera and
transmitter working. he went air with his bible in hand. the inaugural broadcast of christian broadcast network made it to the end of the block and from there, it never stopped. over the decades
millions have responded to christ as pat speaks directly to viewers. >> lord jesus, that's right, pray with me. lord, jesus, you know what i have been through.
>> today cbn is seen in more than 100 nations around the world. countries that were completely closed gospel are now expanding the globe. all the best human strategies world couldn't have
accomplished that feat. >> cbn was the first to start christian television show in their language. when you show people what jesus is doing today for people that
look like them, talk like them, not some far off story that happened 2,000 years ago. >> i want to be part of god's plan. i think that his plan is the world
evangelism. >> isn't it to feed the hungry and to clothes them. >> with that, pat started "operation blessing". >> "operation blessing" they given more than $280 million
and given to churches. the result is fantastic. >> now "operation blessing" is one of the most trusted charities in world providing hunger relief. water wells are dug in every
continent and many people rescued. "operation blessing" has helped during hurricanes. operation bless "operation blessing" >> you don't have dreams about the
future. what you have is next step and next step and you just follow where god is telling you and you put the your foot down and the next thing. >> regent university began
with 77 graduate students in 1978. today over 5,000 scholars are training in the major disciplines. the american center for law justice was established so when the rights of religious people
violated, they have a strong advocate in the courts. >> we defend liberty and freedom and when you take it as a mandate of god, we defend the rights of religious
people to engage in free speech in the united states and around the >> ms. robertson stands in amazement of it all. >> i stand in a dream and it's been a very exciting life. working
lord is an exciting thing to do. following his leading and doing the things that he wants you to >> the story of their meeting has been told before. but every time dee dee tells
story, there is a sparkle in her eye. dee dee was getting her masters and when they met, there was a real spark. >> that's kind of an exciting tale. he came to an open house that
the student nurses had, and i was trying to escape from someone else, and i said i had to work at the refreshment table and i went there with nothing to do so i
tried to look busy. my hair caught on fire and pat put it out with his bare hands. somehow the fire that moved from my hair moved to my heart and i never forget that.
we had a hard time especially when i was starting out. we had three children and the oldest was three 1/2 and it was just a lot of work, a lot of sacrifice. i just thank them for the
example that they have set. >> that's i think what's unique about the both of them. they were both willing to submit to god. >> they are a beautiful couple
together. god knew when he put them together. >> through passion for their love of christ, that was the passion hallmark of the robertson family. >> amazing journey over the
years. you know, we just want to say thank you to those of you who are here in studio with us and those at home who have been friends of the "700 club" christian broadcast network.
through all of these years that you have made that happen. >>pat: we had a camera that caught fire one time. we have a curtain, on the curtain was a cut out cardboard
cross that we put together with a hunk of masking tape and that was our decoration and we had a pulpit. the chief engineer didn't believe we could do it. i said, look, we
going on the air at 1:00. he said, i didn't think you would get the money together. i said how about now? so we went on the air. we didn't have enough monitors.
so down the street was this little convenience store and we would run down there to see if we were look at this picture? okay. >> those were exciting times. >> in 1975 on the "700 club", first african american cohost
of a national tv show. wow. he was more surprised than anybody. let's take a look. >> he's known around the world as the cohost of the "700 club". for
years, he captivated the audience with his charming personality. >> i'm an american citizen. >> then first appeared in the "700 club" in 1971 and then later joined and then in 1975, he joined
pat as cohost making the first african american host of a national tv show. after leaving cbn in 1996, ben began his own humanitarian. >>pat: welcome back to the
set. ben kinchlow. >> pen, my first recollection of you, when you were living in a pig farm or something and doing something, you were trying to help poor
people. we put you on the air and you talking to this lady, she had flawless diamond ring and she said, you know, i'm having a hard time getting service, do you understand
that? >> are you kidding? >> of course i'm having trouble, are you kidding? do you remember >> i do indeed. >> that's just one of your hallmarks of your grace under fire.
>> you didn't know you were going to be a host. you were just coming down to be with us. >> exactly, no clue. >> did you come here thinking you were going to help with the phones
or something? >> i thought i would be with director and then that a call came through from somebody. then i'm shaking hands and what a pleasure and
then the director kept looking at me. i thought why is he looking at me and i just kept shaking hands. and they said, do you want to take my place and i just sat there in guest chair.
he kept looking at me real strange. and he said we have a minute before we go on the air. would you take your place? i thought this is where i should ask where my
place is? i said where should i sit? they said, what, pat didn't tell you? tell me what? that you are the host of the "700 club". >> that was the beginning of years. tell us a little bit
"operation blessing" because the one who really took the steering wheel of that once pat had the vision and launched it? >> again, dr. robertson had surprises. he talked about this vision.
he said the lord gave me isaiah 58. we are going to help the poor and feed the hungry. i thought that's great. the that's absolutely spectacular. yes, we are going to call it
"operation blessing". i said, pat, that is just great. he said, yeah, and you are going to be in charge. >> he's pretty good at that. >> that's called executive leadership.
>> and you do it so well. >>pat: you don't give him any notice. >> the important thing is that pat always had a heart for people. that was one of the things that i was so
impressed by pat. when they put me on the "700 club", you don't see is very many americans on tv. then i showed up and pat, he was concerned about the people. that's
always been the same thing today and forever. >> i agree. >>pat: you know, what experiences touched you the most, do you remember? >> all of them.
in the beginning and the time we went to maximum security. >> i remember seeing that. >> that was true. >> pat would do things like that. we could go to jail. but this guy didn't just take
us to jail. he took us to the prison for prisoners. where the prisoners couldn't get along in jail, they sent them to this prison. and pat said, we are going
down to talk to them. these guys were out there. the killer was there and all of these. >> he got caught. >> i wanted to say to ben, i stood up and before i talked to these
guys, they were hardened killers. they were the hit men for the mob. one guy killed 20 people. this was a tough crowd. they locked us in. >> you hadn't thought about
that part. >> we couldn't get out if the they started doing something. we were in. so ben was my guy. and he took off. man, if he had been a professional comedian, before
you knew it, guys were laughing. >> and people came to the lord. >> i gave a message about, you know, i talked in street language about jesus taking the rap for you, you
know? when i was having at a whip come down, you can see it. it was so powerful. and then they came up to hug me and later on, one guy who said, you know
that guy? he's the most feared man. he's a killer. and he came up and he found the lord. >> really? >> the anointing of the lord came in. the spirit of god came in.
>> people don't realize in prison, they send you to prison because you can't get along in the population. then when they send you to they have guys that can't be in prison.
they have all of these guys and we were preaching to him. and he put his arm around pat thought, oh, here we go. he just came to pat and told him how much he loved him and that was the
power of god. >>terry: we have some video of the first time i was a guest on this show back in 1976. >> jesus loves me. i don't know why he cares. >> that was post miss america
by a couple of years because you knew i was a believer. first time. it was great to come back years later. >> you sat next to miss america with
these two old raggedy guys. >> we had great times you can see more of ben kinchlow on our facebook. just go to facebook.com/"700 club" and see all the fun. >> it's going to be on
facebook? wow. what's facebook? >>pat: they call it social media. >> still we are going to talk the future and we want to give you more information about the new movie
cbn is producing. stay with us for our 55th broadcast anniversary. education. >>efrem: welcome back to this cbn newsbreak. alabama moore is suspended from office

month. pat and terry we'll be right back with more of the "700 club" right >>pat: welcome back. this is a fun time as rosh hashana on the one hand and our anniversary. one
of the hallmarks of cbn's 55 years of broadcasting. on day 49 of campaign to pray for america. more that you know 100,000 people from all faiths who said we will you. right now i will ask our studio
audience to join terry and me as we bow our head to pray for america. join hands. father, we come before you and we ask for this great nation. we have been given freedom,
been given bounty. there is no nation on earth like this land, yet, lord, we sinned against you time and time again and lord, somehow you may grip the hearts of all the people in america and
turn back to god. may there be a great revival in this land -- lord, that we come together in this nation to our father, our god. amen. >>terry: well, if you haven't
given your life to god, you can do that. we can pray for america. we want to pray for as much of america as possible. please be a part of that. we talk about the hallmark of
prayer here at cbn and another 55 broadcasting. one of our newest venture is called "in our hands" the battle of jerusalem about liberating the old city of jerusalem in

war. we'll come back and commemorate our celebration with family and friends and we'll also share some great moments from the past. >>terry: well, it's
impossible to cover all the memorable moments from 55 years of broadcasting, but we selected a few to feature. take a look at those. >> the holy spirit isn't that optional
extra as if god has a smorgasbord that you can take and leave to others. he is going to baptize with the holy ghost. >> it's a pleasure to welcome leading father.
